Through a challenging liberal arts curriculum integrated with Catholic teachings, students build a strong academic foundation while growing in faith, character, and leadership. A Legacy Built on Faith

St. Michael School began in the summer of 1889, when two Sisters of Divine Providence opened a school serving sixty students. Following changes in public education during the early 1900s, Bishop John Shaw of San Antonio and Father Joseph Szymanski recognized the need for a Catholic school dedicated to faith-based learning. With the unwavering support of parishioners, St. Michael Parochial School officially opened in 1915 under the guidance of the Sisters of the Incarnate Word and Blessed Sacrament.

As enrollment steadily grew, so did the campus. A two-story school building was completed in 1919, followed by a modern brick classroom building in 1965, the Parish Center, gymnasium, and cafeteria in 1984, and additional classrooms and a chapel in the 1990s. Continued support from generous organizations such as the Kenedy Foundation and the Stanzel Foundation has allowed the school to expand academic opportunities, introduce Pre-K and Kindergarten programs, and equip classrooms with modern technology and wireless learning environments.

Today, our campus reflects both our rich heritage and our commitment to preparing students for the future—blending historic buildings with innovative educational resources.

For generations, St. Michael Catholic School graduates have distinguished themselves academically, spiritually, and as leaders within their communities. Although our students make up only a small portion of the local high school population, they have consistently represented a significant percentage of top academic achievers.

Beyond the classroom, students participate in meaningful traditions that create lasting memories, including the long-standing educational trip to Washington, D.C., where eighth-grade students experience our nation's history and government firsthand.

While the last Sisters of the Incarnate Word retired in 2010, the school's mission continues under the leadership of our parish, administration, faculty, and staff, supported by an incredible network of parents, alumni, volunteers, local businesses, foundations, and parishioners.
